ACAR (Alabama Coalition Against Rape)
Teumbay (Tee) Barnes, Prevention and Outreach Director, Alabama Coalition Against Rape. Her work includes providing training, technical assistance, and to travel throughout the state to assist prevention educators at ACAR’s 16-member rape crisis centers. Here philosophy is “creating change begins within”. Her passion is being involved in movements that help alter negative images that destroy communities. Her lifelong goal is to be a part of an ongoing movement that creates safe and sacred spaces where people are free to reach their life long goals. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Alabama State University and a Master’s Degree in Post Secondary Education, Troy University. She is also a 2010 graduate of the National Women’s Law Center PLAN (Progressive Advocacy Leadership Network) and a 2011 fellow of the Inaugural Class of Greensboro Justice Fund Fellows at the Highlander Center and has served as Adjunct Instructor.
